The ePlan Portal – is a digital platform for lodgement of planning instruments that streamlines the State Interest Review (SIR) under the statutory guideline for Making and Amending Local Planning Instruments (MALPI) and provides an efficient lodgement system for local government.

The SIR process ensures that matters of significance to the state, e.g. matters addressed by the State Planning Policy or Regional Plans, are appropriately reflected within the local government's proposed planning instrument. The department coordinates the SIR process by facilitating agreement between local government and relevant state agencies to reflect and balance state interests in planning schemes.

The ePlan Portal reduces delay by eliminating copying, repeated distribution of draft documents, notifications, receipting responses and resolution of issues via numerous emails and/or meetings. The operational efficiencies gained from ePlan Portal have increased the time that planning staff across government have to assess and review planning instruments.
